Rivets are mechanical fasteners used to join two or more materials, typically metal sheets or plates. They consist of a smooth cylindrical shaft with a head on one end. Once inserted into a pre-drilled hole, the tail end is deformed (usually hammered or pressed), forming a second head and securing the materials tightly together.
